Our Story

We started Taste of the Island with the goal of introducing Knoxville with authentic Haitian cuisine. We are a group of Haitian entrepreneurs who moved to Knoxville two years after the infamous earthquake back in our home country, Haiti in 2010 and fell in love with the city of Knoxville. We've been blown away by the amount of support we've received from locals and we will forever be grateful to them.

As immigrants, our adjustment here wasn’t without its challenges as several of us faced considerable language and cultural barriers. After eleven years by God’s grace and the amount of support we've received, we've been able to assimilate to the culture, build a family and truly make Knoxville our home.  In a time when Knoxville has become one of the fastest growing cities in the United States, we feel like we're presented with a unique opportunity to turn our common long-cherished dream into a reality by opening the first Haitian food catering business right here in Knoxville!

Our aim is that you would experience the beauty of the Caribbean through every meal we serve.
